How PDM works
The operation of diaphragm metering pumps is based on the reciprocating movement of a flexible diaphragm that generates suction and discharge phases. Unlike peristaltic pumps, the fluid is not moved by compression of a tube but by the volume variation of a hermetic chamber.
- Solenoid activation : A magnetic field attracts the armature, thus displacing the membrane.
- Suction phase : the diaphragm retracts, creating a vacuum that draws the fluid into the chamber via the suction valve.
- Discharge phase : When the solenoid is released, a spring returns the diaphragm to its original position, pushing the fluid toward the outlet through the discharge valve.
- Precise and adjustable dosing : the stroke length and pulse frequency can be adjusted using a potentiometer, allowing optimal flow control.
